Following the tragic events of Thursday, France mourns its loss. Out of respect for the victims and their families, Panda Events decided to cancel its two events that were supposed to take place this weekend.
The first one was the Crossover Summer, which invited the Chicago DJ Chez Damier to the C'Factory in Nice. The artist himself expressed his sadness when he arrived in the South of France city this morning: “I've just arrived in Nice this morning, my prayers and thoughts goes out to the families and their love ones that were lost in this tragedy. Tonight's event at C Factory will not be going ahead as scheduled due to the events but we are working on a new date. Love, chez”
The second event that was meant to take place on Saturday as a teaser of the Plages Électroniques in Cannes. It was the Villa Plages Electro party, scheduled at the Villa Rotschild and its afterparty, that invited YALL, Klingande, Møme, David Mears and Joris Delacroix.
Yan, in charge of Panda Events' communication, said that he was the one who made the call to cancel: “For our event in Cannes we could have hold it if we wanted, the city council wasn't forcing us to cancel. We chose to do it to respect the victims and their families. Nobody here feels like partying.”
He added: “I understand reactions like “the show must go on”, but there's a time for everything. Life goes on, and it will go on, but right now the staff, the artists and all those who were involved in those events, none of us could have partied without a huge weight on our minds.”
The company seems to have chosen to maintain the next events. “It is too early to say anything about the rest of the season, we're focused on this weekend and we'll communicate at the start of next week about what's going to happen next. But there will necessarily be consequences on the way we organize those events, there will also be changes in attendance and turn out.”
