The company Xplosiva, from which the Club2Club festival originated, managed to surround itself well for its sixteenth edition. The famous Red Bull Music Academy and the very distinguished label Warp Records added their touch to the festival's program. The result is a rare innovative and daring line up, in regard of this summer's festivals.
There are not that many headliners: the English duo Autechre, Laurent Garnier, John Hopkins, DJ Shadow, Daphni (a.k.a. Caribou) and Motor City Drum Ensemble. Around them, many, usually less invited, artists but nonetheless as recognised and celebrated for innovative productions as the others.
In an interesting way, it seems that Turin will witness quite a generation clash next Autumn. Besides the presence of the visionary stars previously mentioned, the Club2Club will welcome the young European electronic scene. Three of the programmed artists just left their teens, or didn't: the Welsh Koreless, the English Mura Masa, and the Swedish Toxe. The new talents of bass music will also be there: Forest Swords, Clams Casino, Evian Christ et Gaika.
Evian Christ - Live @Flow Festival (August 2015) :
The futurists and deconstructed ideas dismantling dance music as we thought we knew it, will be carried by the Berlin collective Janus, which invites on the stage three of their rising artists: M.E.S.H., Total Freedom and Kablam. The experimental duo Amnesia Scanner will be a cherry on the cake, amplifying the aesthetic clash.
Facing Berlin and the rest of Europe, the members of the new South-Africa born Gqom (of which the right pronunciation isn't as well exported as the music) will showcase their art. Nan Kolè and DJ Lag's productions are an unexpected but harmonious mix of British funk, hip-hop and traditional South-African rhythms.
New faces on the one side, and, with at least as much talent, a handful full of 80s' and oldschool sounds enthusiasts on the other. A side that will is illustrated by Junior Boys, Jessy Lanza, Fatima Yamaha and Powell -although the experimental and adventuring aspect is indissociable from the latter's work. You can find the whole line up on the festival's page.
